| Bleeding Radiators |
|
| Most of us at one time or another have bled a radiator to remove air from the heating system. Over the years it had become standard practice to leave a radiator bleed key with the customer so they could carry out this procedure themselves, however, over the past 10 years or so most heating system installed now tend to be a sealed heating system. This means the small header tank in the loft has been removed and the boiler installed has a pressure guage and usually some kind of silver flexible hose connected form the cold feeds (mains) to one of the heating pipes. If you bleed a radiator you must make sure the pressure in the system lost through bleeding is replenished through the filling loop. System pressure should be between 1 bar and 2 bar ideally and you will notice a slight rise in pressure when the heating system is at optimum temperature. |
